How to Use Amuse
Your complete guide to safely introducing allergens with Amuse Daily Drops—from your first dose to daily routines
Quick Navigation
Using Amuse is simple and designed to fit easily into your baby's daily routine. No preparation, no mixing, just Amuse and your baby to administer. Once a day, place three drops of Amuse gently under your baby's tongue and allow your baby to swallow. The drops are gentle enough for daily use. These tiny drops deliver carefully measured amounts of allergenic proteins to help introduce common foods early and consistently. In just a few seconds a day, Amuse becomes a simple, consistent routine you can feel confident about. Developed by a pediatric allergist, Amuse makes early allergen simple, gentle, and consistent. Amuse, building confidence from the first drop for a lifetime of joyful eating.
Before You Give the First Dose
Let’s make sure you and your baby are ready. Take a moment to go through this quick checklist.
Check Baby's Readiness
Baby is at least 2 months old, healthy today (no fever, illness, or new rash), and has been tolerating milk feeds well.
Pick Your Time
Choose a time when you can watch baby for 1-2 hours after the first dose. Daytime is ideal when help is easily accessible if needed.
Talk to Your Doctor
If baby has moderate-to-severe eczema, a sibling with food allergies, or you have concerns, consult your pediatrician first.
Let's Give Your First Dose
You’ve got this! Here’s exactly what to do, step by step. Take your time—there’s no rush.
Prep Your Bottle
First bottle tip: Check the expiration date on the bottom of the bottle and mark today’s date on the label. Active bottles are good for 30 days once opened. Keep any unopened bottles in the refrigerator until ready for use!
Choose Your Starting Dose
A full dose is 3 pumps (0.42mL), but for your very first time, you have options.
You can start with 3 pumps if you’re feeling confident and baby has no risk factors; or start with 1-2 pumps if you want to ease in, then build up to 3 over the next few days.
Our recommendation: There is no right or wrong way to get started. It’s most important that you maintain consistency with daily dosing.
Position & Pump
When your baby is calm (after a diaper change!), gently place the pump tip in their mouth, then:
1) Hook the tip over the lower gums, aiming under the tongue if possible
2) Press the pump slowly—once, twice, three times
3) The liquid will go directly onto the oral mucosa (that’s where the magic happens!)
If baby spits it out: Totally normal! Wipe their face clean. The important exposure already happened the moment the drops touched their mouth. You can try again later if you want or the following day.
Watch & Relax
- Hives, rash or facial swelling
- Vomiting or difficulty breathing
- Unusual fussiness or refusal to feed
Most likely scenario:Baby acts totally normal. Maybe they made a funny face at the new taste, but that’s about it. After this first dose, you’ll feel much more confident going forward!
Building Your Daily Routine
After that first dose, here’s how to make Amuse a seamless part of your day
Pick Your Daily Time
Same time every day helps build the habit. Popular choices: after morning feed, during diaper change, or before bedtime. Whatever works for your family!
Set a Daily Reminder
Life gets busy! Set a phone reminder for your chosen time. After 2-3 weeks, it’ll become second nature and you won’t need it.
Store Properly
Keep unopened bottles in the fridge. Once opened, store at room temperature in a cool, dry spot away from sunlight
Mark Your Calendar
Write today’s date on your bottle label. Toss it after 30 days and start a fresh one—even if there’s liquid left.
Missed a Day?
No stress. Just pick up where you left off tomorrow. Consistency over time matters more than perfection. You’re doing great!
Talk to Your Pediatrician
Let your doctor know you’ve started Amuse at your next visit. They’ll likely be supportive—early introduction is now recommended!

How do I administer Amuse?
Give your baby Amuse in 3 easy steps:
Step 1: Shake the bottle well for 5-10 seconds
Step 2: Gently insert the tip of the bottle into baby’s mouth, ideally under baby’s tongue to encourage swallowing.
Step 3: Press the pump 3 times for a complete dose (0.42mL total). The drops have a mild, slightly sweet taste that most babies tolerate well.
That’s it! Your baby’s developing immune system will take it from there. What’s most important is finding a consistent routine that allows for frequent exposure to these allergens.
Pro tip: Administer after a feeding when baby is calm and content. Some parents find it easiest during a diaper change when baby is lying down.
Ready to begin?
What if my baby spits it out or doesn't swallow?
Good news—swallowing isn’t necessary!
Even if baby spits out some of the liquid after you administer it, the allergen proteins have already made contact with the immune cells in the mouth. Don’t worry about giving an extra dose to “make up” for spit-out drops.
What time of day should I give Amuse?
Anytime that works consistently for your routine! Some popular options include:
After morning feeding: When baby is usually calm and happy
Before bedtime: Drops become part of the evening routine
During diaper changes: baby is already lying down and Amuse can be a fun distraction
The most important thing is picking a time you can stick with daily. Consistency is what matters the most!
What if I miss a day?
How long should I continue using Amuse?
Can I use Amuse with other allergen introduction products?
Amuse (2-6 months): Early allergen exposure before solid foods
Amuse + food-based products (6+ months):Guarantees allergen exposure while baby is introduced to table foods
Amuse + whole foods (8+ months) Continued use of Amuse drops alongside table foods until baby is consuming these allergens on a regular basis (2-3x per week)
How should I store Amuse?
Unopened bottles: Unopened bottles of Amuse should be stored in the refrigerator until ready for use. Refrigeration helps maintain the protein potency in the drops.
Open bottles: Opened bottles should be stored at room temperature in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. No refrigeration needed! Keep the cap tightly closed when not in use. Each bottle has a 12-month shelf life from the manufacturing date (check the expiration date on your bottle).
What if I want to stop using Amuse?
You can stop using Amuse at any time—but it’s important not to stop allergen exposure entirely. The protective effect of early introduction only lasts as long as your child continues eating these foods regularly.
Here’s what to do when you discontinue Amuse:
Transition to whole foods: Start introducing these allergens through regular foods as early as your baby is developmentally ready. Ideally, your child should be eating all six allergens (peanut, tree nuts, eggs, sesame, milk, and dairy products) by 12 months.
Maintain consistent exposure: Once you stop Amuse, aim for approximately 2 grams of protein from each allergen at least 3 times per week. Two grams of protein from each allergen is roughly:
- 2 teaspoons of peanut butter
- 1 egg
- 4 ounces of milk or yogurt
- 1 tablespoon of tahini (sesame)
- Small handful of tree nuts (or 2 tablespoons nut butter)
Why it matters: Food allergies are most likely to develop in the first 3 years of life. Consistent exposure during this critical period—whether through Amuse or whole foods—is your best protection. Gaps in exposure can allow sensitization to occur.
That said, many families continue using Amuse well into toddlerhood for foods their child refuses to eat. Continuing Amuse ensures they still get consistent exposure to those proteins. Since they’re already familiar with the drops, it’s often easier than battling food preferences during the critical first 3 years when allergies are most likely to develop.
Is Amuse safe for all babies?
Amuse is designed to be safe for most infants starting at 2 months. Our microdosing protocol uses protein volumes well below typical reaction thresholds. However, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider before starting if your baby has existing allergies, severe eczema, or significant family history of allergies.
How much of each allergen is in one dose?
Each daily dose (3 pumps = 0.42mL) contains precise volumes of purified protein extract per allergen. This microdose range is:
All six allergens (peanut, cashew, walnut, sesame, egg white, milk) are present in every bottle.
What should I watch for after the first dose?
While reactions to our microdoses are extremely rare due to the low amounts, it’s good practice to monitor your baby after the first few doses. Watch for symptoms like the ones listed below. If you notice any concerning symptoms, stop use immediately and contact your pediatrician or call 911.
Hives or rash
Swelling of the lips, face, or tongue
Vomiting or diarrhea
Difficulty breathing or wheezing
Excessive fussiness or discomfort
Can I give too much? What if I accidentally give extra pumps?
While we recommend sticking to the 3-pump daily dose for consistency, accidentally giving 4-5 pumps on occasion is not dangerous. Our doses are designed with safety margins well below reaction thresholds.
However, don’t intentionally give more than the recommended dose—more is not better for building tolerance, and consistency at the recommended amount is what matters most.
What kind of testing is done on Amuse?
Every single batch of Amuse undergoes comprehensive third-party testing for:
- Safety: Microbial testing to ensure no harmful bacteria or contaminants
- Stability: Verifying the formula maintains its effectiveness throughout shelf life
- Accuracy: Confirming precise allergen protein concentrations
We maintain certificates of analysis for all testing and manufacture in a GMP-certified facility that follows strict FDA guidelines.
